March 22, 2018 @ 8:00 am - March 23, 2018 @ 4:00 pm

$25
This is the third in a series of statewide presentations to promote Person-Centered Thinking. Emerging technology has proven to be an effective support for increasing participation of persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities across a variety of life domains. This is an opportunity to learn about applied technology and the role technology can play in supporting quality lives.

Overview

A high-quality community life provides opportunities for developing meaningful relationships, for becoming more self-determined, for expanding personal interests, for learning and personal growth, for employment, for health and wellness, and for supportive home living. New and emerging technologies can enhance community environments both to expand opportunities and to enhance skills and services. This training will discuss the Rights of People with Cognitive Disabilities to Technology and Information Access; will provide an overview of applied cognitive technologies and accessible technologies; and will demonstrate successful systems and programs that have applied innovations in technology to enhance quality of life for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families.
